Political Favors & Graft

I cannot remember the date but it was sometime in 2008 or 2009.  Gene Reed and Neal Baker (deceased) were partners in a real estate venture.  The property was the large parcel of land on the north side of Gene Reed Toyota on Rivers Avenue.  They were having issues in selling the property because the intersection favored access for the businesses on the opposite side of Rivers Avenue.  During one of the meetings between the partners, a decision was made for Gene Reed to call Mayor Keith Summey about the issue of redesigning the intersection and placing a four way stop light.  I was not privy to any of these conversations but approval for the redesign of the intersection was made and the partnership was responsible for the cost.  The only additional cost was a new Toyota FJ Cruiser for Mayor Summey.  I know this because I was responsible for setting the delivery up for the Mayor and paying the dealership for the vehicle out of the partnership funds.

I have a few more stories involving elected officials that received political contributions in return for favors for Gene Reed.  If you ever need 4 or 5 passports in a rush all you need to do is call  Senator Lindsey Graham and get a 1 or 2 day turnaround.  Just give him $2500 as a political contribution and one of his aids will personally take care of it at the taxpayers expense!.
